With Woodsford Consulting’s help Woodsford Grupa was founded in early 2006, following the end of the Balkan conflict, to develop luxury residential resorts on the beautiful Adriatic Coast.
In its early years the focus was on land purchase and complex site assembly, including dealing with zoning (planning). In 2004 Croatia wisely placed a moratorium on new construction in certain areas. This gave the authorities time to create a proper strategy aimed at ensuring a considered development of the coastline and the prevention of the unchecked and low-quality new build that spoils other areas of the Mediterranean. Happily the planning position is now becoming clearer, enabling good schemes to proceed.
Assisted by Woodsford Consulting, Woodsford Grupa has to date acquired interests in two well located areas: a 1.5-hectare site in Ciovo near Trogir and a 7.2-hectare site in Brodarica (Šibenik).
Management has decided to concentrate on developing Brodarica into a flagship coastal residential resort community to showcase the company’s vision. Brodarica will be a multi-phase destination residential resort encompassing first class leisure and touristic facilities. The objective of the resort will be to attract investors, second-home owners and tourists to Brodarica. It will be designed to meet the needs of international investors, tourists, and the local community and take inspiration from the traditional local Croatian architecture of fishermen’s stone houses that are scattered around the Adriatic.
